MV Zombie Community Project - Update #04

by Massive Voodoo

Dear Ladies and gentlemen,

once again some time has passed quietly (way too fast in our opinion) and it is urgently time for the next update about Roman´s and Bene´s Zombie Community Project. We did not forget this in 2016, we definatly carry it over to 2017.

If you don´t know what we are talking about you are welcome to check the link below, where the idea behind the project is explained. You will also find there a link to the first two updates.

Since the last update
in November 2016 we once again got some zombies from you, not so many as we also have become a little quiet on the projects progress. Still it is really cool how much love you give the zombies during painting. So we say a huge

THANK YOU

for your help.

In the next pictures we want to show you all the zombies that have reached us so far since the last update.

Two very suspicous guys by Klaus.
One Zombie by Sebastian.

Four cool Zombies by Anthony.

The second community board is filling up with these nicely. So cool to see this grow, thank you all so much. We can not wait to show you more progress on this superhuge project.

In the meantime Roman started his second board. A little slower than last years start into the project, but still progress nonetheless.

Roman's first board is fully packed.

What are the next steps?
Bene and Roman do not get tired of painting Zombies, just a little slower in this early 2017. As there is already a good number of Zombies both decided to meet soon for a little progress on the basework for this never seen before diorama, some progress on the base incoming to see everything of the full picture grow together. Of course we will keep you updated on this.

We are slowly entering stage #02 of our project plan.
You can read the initial plans on the project and our work schedule here.

STAGE#01 - ending
Painting as much Zombies as possible. Many, in a good quality, but not too high as we need masses.

STAGE#02 - incoming
As soon as we got a good amount of painted Zombies we will start working on the lower area of the base and the bridge. Build, paint and then we can already add the first painted Zombies to see how many more we need. This is good for motivation.

STAGE#03
Frankly, more Zombies.

STAGE#04
As soon as the ground is packed and painted we will start working on the upper area of the highway. Prepare the road, looted cars and the dramatic moment that is happening on top.

STAGE#05
We guess more Zombies again and finalizing the epic scene on top which will still be a surprise for you. Final paintwork, final sculpting and conversion work and finalizing everything.

STAGE#06
Of course there will be a stage 6, but we do not know it yet.

How can you still help us?

Well, we need more Zombies still :D

Little Sith

by Massive Voodoo

Hidiho Jungle,

these weeks on Massive Voodoo do look like a lot of finished miniatures still have to be shown in here and you are absolutely right. Plenty more to come.

Early 2017 Roman was giving away this little Sith girl by Hasslefree Miniatures in 28mm as a free giveaway on Instagram. He wanted to thank everybody who followed him there and celebrate 5000 IG followers with this give away. One lucky winner was drawn and already recieved the miniature.

You can follow Roman on Instagram here too.
He already announced the next milestone when another miniature project by him will be given away!
Well, now to the little Sith ...

Frank von Stein

by Massive Voodoo

Hey Jungle,

in late 2016 Roman finished a very cool model by Terrible Kids Stuff, its name:
Frank von Stein. A very weird concept out of Paola Parente's Dust universe and defintly a unique character in 75 mm.

By little accident Roman was forced to do some small conversions on the model, first at the claws, followed by the upper body additions. Pure fun. There will be a future step by step on this project as well to explain these happy little accidents.

Predator

by Massive Voodoo

Good Morning Jungle,

recently Roman took his time to paint up one of his favourite sculpts.
The miniature is from Predastore in 28 mm.

The basework was quite easy. Some green painted stones, followed by dosh. If you are interested in some vegetation on your base we suggest the following articles:

Captain Garfio

by Massive Voodoo

ARRRRR!!

While starting this in a private coaching session with Meg Maples, Roman is happy to show you the finished version of his Captain Garfio, sculpted by Lucas Pina.

"This is mine, I dug it out, my treasure chest ... do not challenge me!" - Captain Garfio

A very pure character to paint.
A joy to paint. A lot of Pirate Music was playing while this was finished.
Roman did paint this on comission in the end of 2016.

Old Barbarian

by Massive Voodoo

Aloa -he Jungle,

time for another project Roman did finish in the end of 2016.
Roman's studies of painting stuff up leads him to weird places. This result here is definatly one of these places. Roman calls it "genithal light" and enjoyed his studies on it a lot.

Good News is he did so many photos that he might be able to write a big article sooner or later on his thoughts, ways of achieving something and his steps while swinging the brushes on this old barbarian. Miniature is by Black Sun Miniatures and was a joy to paint.

You can also find this project with too much genital light on Putty&Paint.
This project is in private collection. Thank you Mr. C. for your support in Roman's art, passion and work.

Keep on happy painting!

Update on Spartan Warrior - Kopis and Aspis

by Massive Voodoo

Hi Jungle,

Roman finished a bust of a Spartan Warrior by Pegaso in the end of 2016, which was not finished at all. Now it is finished, because it was missing something.

An Aspis (shield of the hoplite) and a Kopis (sword of the ancient hoplites).
Roman asked Raffaele Picca if he would sculpt this for him in 3D, Matt Cexwish's Pro Tools did the 3D prints in Berlin. Thanks also to Kirill Kanaev who helped Roman to get a shield by Young Miniatures. In the end it turned out that Roman and his client had to decide what shield to use ...

Really sweet work by Raffaele.

Kopis in place. Check.

Shield #01

Both options. We decided on the right one as if you think about the scale of the model (1:11) this shield needs to be bigger than the version on the left. In real a Aspis was about one meter of diameter. Super-huge, but super-protective and super-heavy, only for super-strong ancient warriors.

Right size.

Roman finished the paintjob on the shield and the kopis and attached both to the bust. His client was superhappy with it and they are already planning their historical project for 2017.

If you want to see more photos of the project, please check back with Putty&Paint.

Workshop News - Two Advanced Classes canceled!

by Massive Voodoo

Hi Jungle,

we got news around seminars/workshops for you.

Even they have been announced,
the following classes will not be held due the lack of student numbers. They will be canceled. We are working on a solution which makes the MV's Jar's Advanced Class more interesting for people who even did not take the Beginner Class yet:

Please understand that there is no offence in this. It is simple mathematics and also some private decisions in Romans life. We will come back with better plans on the Advanced Classes in the middle of the year. The one in Blumberg-Achdorf will be held as the class is full with 16 students.

Sad news we know, but do not worry this often leads to something good in the end.

 Keep on happy painting!

Luna's soldier

by Oli aka HonourGuard

Hello,

some time passed since my last post.
I made a lot updates on my personal pages, some interviews for homepages, but didn't share anything here. So I thought it would be a good time to write and show you some news again. Or also older works that I have finished over the last year.

In the past year I worked on a lot comission works, the most I have every did and it was a really great time in basing and painting, with interesting projects and clients. But also had some personal figures to paint. I had the opportunity to create a lot after my personal decisions, so I still was very flexibel in the development of the projects. I hope in the future I can work more with comissions to make this as a part time job to my regular work.

I want to start with showing you Luna's soldier a nice female model from Nocturna, I liked all their latest releases with the female models a lot. And so finally I throw some colors on a figure of them. I think it was the first bigger female model that I have painted in all time.

Luna's soldier, with and without colors

Luna's soldier:

Together with the client, we decided to create a nice diorama base with big stairs. I wanted to give it a more unusual, fantastic look with the aborted stairs and a dark and cold color sheme. For the base I picked up and old WIP-Base and started to sculpt the basic volumes of the stairs and the archway on it. In the next days I added the stone structure to this volumes with Milliput. I wanted to create a very interesting stone structure on it, which gave me a lot playground for the painting and basing process.

Create the basic volumes:

Created little rough walls with Milliput:

Finished Base:

Now to colors and to the final result. I tried to realise a very dark atmosphere on the figure and on the base too.

I hope you like this version of Luna. Here are the links to the complete gallerys you can find in the net:
